Forgive me, but I have to brag about it.

Last year in April I was approached by a German publisher. They asked me if I wanted to be the co-author for their travel guide Canada West - I would have to write half the book, my part would be the travel routes and a few other short chapters.

Was I interested? Yes!

The publisher had found me through my first book, which I had written and published myself about our immigration to Canada a year earlier. How about that. When I finished the manuscript for my first book, I looked for publishers as well and had gotten mixed responses. In the end, I decided to publish it myself, because I did not want to do the changes that were asked by some of the interested publishers.

There are a lot of black sheep in the publishing industry and even though I felt that the quality might suffer a little bit with publishing a pretty much unedited book, I went for it anyway. To hold the finished product in my hot little hands felt good back then as well, but this time it’s even better.

There is a certain kind of satisfaction that comes with being asked to write something - the professional layout and editing is a bonus on top of that!

I am very happy with how it turned out - and I am even happier that I’m already working on the next project for the same publisher. I am writing another travel-guide-type book, “Canada West - 101 popular destinations and insider tips for travel in Western Canada”. And this time I’m the sole author.

My manuscript for the next book is due in September and it will be published by the end of the year.
