So, I’m just watching Oprah’s Master Class and all the people on there seem to agree about one thing - you have to know where you come from; and where you come from shapes you into who you are. I have tried my whole life to find my home inside of me, because I always resented where I come from. I am sure that I had everything I needed as a child, my parents started out small, but...

Dog House
I am pretty sure I should not be blogging right now. Not in the I-think-I-had-to-much-to-drink-and-should-not-be-writing way, but more in a “I-cannot-believe-my-mother-is-here-and-you-are-writing-a-blog-instead-of-entertaining-her” way (quote husband). Actually I know I should not be blogging right now, because he just left the house to take a little walk and before he left he said:...

Vancouver=Wangcouver
I just have to add this to my husband's repertoire of newly "invented" English words with the German accent. Just to sum it up quickly - so far we have veggie=wedgie, squat=squid (you don't know squid) and he has ordered a Schockoshake in the McDonalds drive-through before. Today we have a new one to add to the collection.
Marius: Why are you not at work yet, dad?
Roland: You know Oma Nada is coming today. I am driving down to Wangcouver to pick her up.
Pauline: (Beavis and Butthead laugh) He said Wangcouver!
Me (thinking): (I really need to pay attention now so I can write this down later)
Roland: You know I mean Wangcouver - what's so funny about that anyway?
Marius: Pauline, you say what a wang is.
Pauline: You know dad, a wang is the thing.
Roland: (still not clueing in) What thing?
Me: (I have to leave the kitchen because I'm dying)
Marius: Just say it like it is Pauline!
Pauline: A wang is a penis. There.
Roland: How do you know stuff like that? Middle School?
Marius: You don't have to go to Middle School for that. They teach you that already in Elementary School. I know what it is.
Roland: Alright then (gives me the you-better-not-blog-about-this look). Wangcouver, here I come.

Memories Captured in May - my best friend
Renae, I can’t even begin to tell you how proud I am that you are graduating from law school this week! Way to go, girlfriend. YOU KNOW how much I would love to be there - it has been way too long since we’ve seen each other. You have been my best friend for 20 years now - and I love you. You are funny, smart, sexy, strong, crazy - and did I mention sexy? You are my best friend, my...

What we fit into one hour - it's a Monday...
It does not go down like this every day. What I’m about to share with you was one of the better days (from an entertainment-value-perspective, not for my sanity). I am talking about getting a teenager and a pre-teen ready to go in the morning. With fits, attitudes and drama. My kids. In one hour. Sounds exhausting, right? Thank god I write this shit down. In my pink idea book. You never...
